Bin Yu and Michael Jordan Receive Funding from the NSF for Data Science Research

The National Science Foundation has awarded MIT and Berkeley 12.5 million to form the Foundations of Data Science Institute (FODSI), a multidisciplinary institute established to study critical issues in data science. Bin Yu, Professor of Statistics, and Michael Jordan, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, are both co-Principal Investigators, along with other Berkeley PIs Martin Wainwright and Peter Bartlett, Professors of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and a team with researchers from Boston, Northeastern, Harvard and Howard Universities, and Bryn Mawr College.
