Campus Parking

The rate to park in campus lots is as follows: $3 for the first hour and $0.50 for each half hour thereafter, up to a max of $12 (for all-day parking). Tickets must be purchased at the yellow dispensing machines typically located near the lots’ entrance. The machines accept only $1 and $5 bills, quarters, nickels, and dimes. Be advised that the machines do not give change. Tickets must be placed face up on the dashboard; failure to do so will result in a citation that would be extremely difficult to overturn. Please be sure to read all posted signs and do not park in spaces marked “Reserved.” Click here for a map of all UC Berkeley parking lots.

Street Parking

Metered and two-hour parking is available around the campus; however, it may be difficult to find a space. If you park in the City of Berkeley, please check carefully for posted parking restrictions. While some metered spaces accept coins and credit and debit cards, others are of the more conventional variety and accept only coins. The standard rate for on-street parking in Berkeley is $1.50 per hour. More information on on-street parking can be found here.

Directions from BART

If you’re coming to campus via BART, get off at the Berkeley Station (also known as the “Downtown Berkeley” station) along the Richmond line; it drops you off one block from the west side of campus. For more information, visit the BART website. The west entrance to the Berkeley campus is only one block away from the Downtown Berkeley BART Station. Sutardja Dai Hall is about a 15 to 20 minute walk from BART.
