Professor Bin Yu Receives Prestigious Scott Award

Bin Yu, UC Berkley Professor in the Department of Statistics and the Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer science was chosen by the Committee of Presidents of Statistical Societies, COPSS, as the recipient of the prestigious Elizabeth L. Scott Award. The Scott Award “recognizes an individual who exemplifies the contributions of Elizabeth L. Scott’s lifelong efforts to further the careers of women in academia.” The award is granted to an individual, male or female, who has helped foster opportunities in statistics for women.

Professor Yu is being acknowledged for her dedicated and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the statistics field and for her mentorship of women students. In addition, this awards also recognizes her scientific contributions to statistical and machine learning methodology.
