Faculty & Research
CCB combines the research strengths and interests of over 40 faculty from fourteen different departments and five colleges, each among the best in the world, to provide unparalleled opportunities for innovative foundational and applied research and learning at the interface of computation and biology.
Our faculty’s expertise and research interests are broad and ranges from biostatistics, to phylogenetics, to human population genetics, to applications of new algorithms and machine learning to human genomics, to genome annotation and RNA analysis, to protein folding and structure, to regulatory site analysis and systems biology and to functional analysis of human genetic and epigenetic variation.
Our program is uniquely positioned given the individual expertise and highly collaborative nature of our faculty and fellows. Since our faculty are drawn from the diverse departments and colleges across campus, we have access to a wealth of campus resources and state-of-the-art facilities for imaging, sequencing, stem cell research and more.
Our faculty direct, are affiliates of, or have created numerous research centers and institutes related to computational biology and genomics. A non-exhaustive list of research centers and institutes related to computational biology and genomics at UC Berkeley can be found here.
