Description:
This year’s DEI panel will focus on the role of academics and researchers in society. What social purpose do researchers serve? How is that purpose shaped by existing social and economic structures, and how do researchers contribute to reinforcing those structures? How can researchers interested in social change leverage their position to create the changes they are looking for? To answer these questions and more, we have put together a panel consisting of activists and organizers from a variety of backgrounds. Our panelists include graduate students, industry scientists, academics, and grassroots organizers and what unites all of them is a shared interest in how our work influences and is influenced by social forces.
