Denis Titov, assistant professor in the Department of Nutritional Sciences and Toxicology, has been named a 2024 Hellman Fellow, an award that supports early-career faculty with promising research potential. Titov's lab employs computational and experimental methods to study human metabolic pathway regulation and the molecular mechanisms of aging. His Hellman-funded project focuses on investigating whether activating two glycolysis-related enzymes, hexokinase and phosphofructokinase, can selectively target and kill cancer cells that rely on the Warburg Effect for growth. This research could provide insights into novel cancer therapies.
