Liana Lareau Awarded 2025 MTI Innovator Award for Gene Therapy Research

Liana Lareau, Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering, has been named one of the five recipients of the  2025 MTI Innovator Award.  This award acknowledges the awardees' transformative approaches to therapeutic discovery.  Liana's work entail developing a CRISPR prime editing–based gene therapy designed to selectively silence mutant alleles responsible for retinitis pigmentosa. Through the MTI Innovator Award, she will receive research funding and access to advanced drug discovery and medicinal chemistry platforms to support her groundbreaking research.
