Faculty members Nir Yosef, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Liana Lareau, Professor of Bioengineering, work alongside CCB graduate students Carlos F. Buen Abad Najar and Prakruthi Burra to publish their genomic research paper “Identifying cell state–associated alternative splicing events and their coregulation.” The team demonstrates their new method, Psix, and its ability to confidently identify splicing that changes across a landscape of single cells, using a probabilistic model that is robust against the data limitations of scRNA-seq. They hope that their new method will enable scRNA-seq analysis to go beyond transcription to understand the roles of post-transcriptional regulation in determining cell identity.
