Priya Moorjani and colleagues publish new paper on genomic dating and the legacy of human migrations

Priya Moorjani, Assistant Professor of Molecular and Cell Biology at UC Berkeley, along with colleagues from the department and the Broad Institute, recently published a paper highlighting their new genomic dating method called DATES. Using DATES on approximately 1,100 ancient genomes, they reconstructed major gene flow events during the European Holocene. By analyzing these gene flow events, the team was able to gain new insights into the origins and spread of farming and Indo-European languages, illuminating human migration patterns from thousands of years ago.
